Welcome Back!

Yes, I know its been awhile since I posted. I have been doing many other things. I got side-tracked from what I needed to do.

Today, I will call the company that someone told me would reproduce the proportioning valve that I had to find in the junkyard. Hopefully, I will be able to connect with someone who can help me do this.

Rock Auto was the company I was referred to. I just spoke with them, they do not have the technology available YET for reproduction parts - but I am going to talk with a machine shop I know of - to see if they can reproduce the part in a new form. Then I will see about getting the part reproduced through a manufacturer.

Welcome Back!

There are a few rules of the road (LAWS) that are in the Driver's Manual that I notice a lot of people are just not following anymore.

I am on the road everyday for 5 and 1/2 hours a day, 6 days a week. I see a HUGE lack of responsibility on the roads nowadays.  People have forgotten these important rules that could keep you from getting into an accident.

Technology is great, isn't it? We have Bluetooth technology, hands-free devices, cellphones, GPS, and other things. Do you realize that Connecticut has a Hands-free/No Texting Law? Why is it that I still see some of you talking on it while holding it in your hand or worse texting while driving? My car is almost 20 years old and I can still get the Bluetooth technology installed in it. I do not use my cellphone or text while driving, as I like to see where I am going, and dodge those of you who are not paying attention. If it rings, I have voice mail. I can call them back later when I get to my destination.

The turn signals are on the car to let other people know where you are going. I do not see a lot of people using those anymore. (You know who you are.) I use mine all the time so that you will know where I am going and decide what action you need to take. You should use yours too! I'm tired of seeing the brake lights before the turn signal ... its the other way around.

The use of all lights in these conditions is imperative to your safety! If it is raining, misting, snowing, sleeting, foggy, or overcast (cloudy) ... I want to be able to see you. Also, please make sure all your lights are in working order and not blown out. If your wipers are on - all the lights are supposed to be on BY LAW.  Put all your lights on ... not just the daytime driving lights.

Speeding is illegal, its reckless and irresponsible. You want to speed? Get a race car and go to the track. If you lose control of the car, you can kill yourself, friends, family, and other people. You can also end up destroying other cars and hurting/killing others. You may think you're indestructible or just having fun ... but once you or someone else is dead - you or those people can't come back from the dead.

Do you realize that in Europe, in some places there, to get a driver's license, it's $5,000? Once you get it, its a responsibility, not just a privilege. If you lose that license due to reckless driving, drunk driving (which is a no-no anyways), or get into a major accident, or any other major infractions, they take your license away for good and YOU DO NOT GET IT BACK.

Please make sure you are following the speed limits, the laws regarding lights, turn signals, cellphones (talking and texting), and that ALL your lights are working. Take the time to drive responsibly. You will live a lot longer that way.

  Stay safe!

Sylvia Guillemette

Welcome Back!

Today I share with you the current recalls going on with the different car companies. These are important things you should know to keep you and your family safe.

The most important thing you should know about recalls, and no one ever tells you, is that if there is a recall on your vehicle, the dealer has to pay for it - not you.  It's just some of your time to get the vehicle there to be fixed.

The one recall that seems to have gone somewhat unnoticed, is the Nissan Pathfinder. Did you know that all years - back to the first year - have major recalls including the steering box rotting out of the vehicle? One minute you are directing the car and the next moment - the car is steering off on its own! There are other problems as well. Don't let this happen to you! To check that recall - CLICK HERE

The Hundai/Kia Recalls. These are the vehicles listed for those recalls -
"Elantra compacts from 2011 to 2013 to fix an air bag problem, Hyundai models affected by the brake light switch recall include the 2007 to 2009 Accent and Tucson, the 2007 to 2010 Elantra, the 2011 Sonata, the 2007 to 2011 Santa Fe, the 2008 to 2009 Veracruz and the 2010 to 2011 Genesis Coupe. Welcome Back!

Well, I've started on a new eGuide. Its more detailed and better than the last one. I found more great information to add to it, so I am sure it will be more help.

It's going to be the free gift incorporated into my "Car Basics for Women" site which I'm also working on. More on that later ...

So far I have Owner's Manual info, Checking and where to find information on correct Oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze levels, brake fluid, power steering fluid. There is also tire information - that I have so far. I will be working on windshield fluid, wipers, air filters, and Engine Light code information. (Sometimes the engine light shows up under the ABS or Service Engine Soon lights as well.)

Time to work on the e-guide . I want to get that all set and contact my designer for the e-cover I want done for it. (She did a great job on my header for my webpage!)

Talk to you soon! Enjoy your day! :D

Sincerely,

Sylvia
