About Me
Hello!
My name is Sylvia Guillemette. I have been around cars since I was 13 years old. I enjoy being around them and learning about them. I changed my first tire at the age of 13 years with the help of a friend. I also learned how to do an oil change and other little maintenance things. I loved learning and doing them. I wanted to get into the Automotive Tech department in school, but my "old school" counselor and mother did not think I needed to do that.
I got involved in a local Car Club some few years later. I was able to bring my car in there and do small maintenance - oil changes, spark plug and wire changes, change antifreeze and tires. I was able to help other people with their cars as I have small hands and can get into those engine spots most guys can't. I enjoyed helping!
Fast forward another few years ... I started working in the auto parts industry. I had a lot to learn. I did not realize how much there was to it. I loved learning. I spoke with a lot of folks and learned some things about certain cars that I did not know. Eventually, in another parts store, I became a counter person and learned a lot more. Later on, I was involved in the Commercial parts department. That is a whole different animal in itself. It was fun! I loved dealing with the business people who requested parts from us. I got to know the people and the businesses. Garages, tire places, shock stores, other part stores, and car dealers.
I was able to help a lot of people, as the place I worked for did free engine light scans (1996 and newer), battery/alternator tests, battery re-charge service, wiper blade installation and things of that nature. I sure do miss those regular customers of mine because they were a connection to something I love. I enjoyed helping them and learning things from them. Maybe I can help you with something?
Please feel to contact me with any questions you may have. I'm not a mechanic, ASE certified, or anything, but I can always ask someone who knows that answer and get back to you with it.
All My Best,
Sylvia Guillemette
